a reason for being so slack in here..

After what felt like a lifetime my webite is up and running..YAY!
For weeks I was either busy sewing for the site, custom orders or working on building the site plus being a Mum didn't leave me much time for anything else.

Not much has changed, I have made quite a few sales off the site and have had just as many custom orders keeping me super busy.

I will try harder to come in here more often to show off my new creations and update you on what I am up to.

Poor neglected blog update.

I know I promised to keep my blog updated, sorry I have been so slack but the rest of my life has been so hectic.

I have been setting up my website which is nearly ready to go...very exciting and I have also been building stock to stock it with and that is keeping me very busy.
And I have finally set up the study as my sewing room and it is working well, nice to have my own space to get things done and keep my rather large fabric stash. Just need to purchase a few shelves and bits and peices to finish it off, I won't show any pic's till then.

Well I have been very busy sewing up skirts, dresses and bags for orders, I am doing really well for myself and still find it hard to beleive that people actually like what I make, not bad for someone that struggled to sew in a straight line a few years back.

This morning I spent ages scouring through all the beautiful fabric at SL, and left with a lighter wallet but rather large bag of goodies. I came across some beautiful Daisy Fairy fabric in blues and greens that i am going to turn into a skirt set for one of my girls, cant wait to get started on it but have alot of UFO's to knock off before then.

My goodfriend gave the awesome idea to make padded Nitendo DS covers, I love the final result and really enjoyed sewing them up. I might knock up some similar for friends for their phone's, camera's etc.

Sew much to report...

It has been a while since I posted in here, have had alot on and have neglected the blog, that will change I promise.
Well I have been very busy over the last few months filling orders and playing around with hew designs. My Funky bags and beach bags are still very popular as is my market bag. I have also designed a satchel style bag which I have named the Lou Lou bag after a very special friend.

I have also been making a range of baby and children singlets, I am having a hoot playing around with them and welcome the change from bags all the time. I have also been making headbands and hairclips which look gorgeous and are a hit with the girls.

I am also in the process of setting up the Fiddlestix website, hopefuly it will be up and running by the end of the month, I am so excited, I have no idea what I am doing but luckily I have Chelle to show me the way (o:

Summer day sewing..

I have promised a good friend of mine a "Tinkerbell" outfit for her scrumptious little girl Ruby for ages now so today I finally made it. I hope it fit's it looks so small but she is on the small side so hopefully it will be ok.
I also made a Summer Day set for Lexie in a gorgeous blue/green flower print, It looks great and makes a pleasant change from the pinks and purples she is normally in.

More bags and a new swimming bag for Abbey.

It has been a long week with the kids back at school and all their activities and running around that goes with it, but I still found some time to make a couple of new bags.

I made a couple of new Funky bags and a few Funky Market bags too and I also have a few orders in for beach bags too.

This afternoon I made Abbey a swimming bag for her swimming lessons that start next week, I used a bright beach towel that I picked up cheap at Kmart and just cut it to the size I wanted and added a clear pocket on the front with a clasp. It worked out pretty good and might pick up another towel during the week and make a drawstring style.

Busy little vegemite...

As the title suggests I have been very busy today, the dancing year started today so i spent a good half of the day at dancing. It was great to be back and catch up with some lovely friends and also for the girls who miss their dancing terribly over the break.

I then came home and got stuck into my sewing. I secided to make a funky eco bag using extra thick interfacing to give it body, I usually use just the medium thickness one but never again as the extra thick is awesome and give such a great shape to the bags. The bag I made today was made using a chocolate cordrouy fabric on the outer and Micheal Millers Funky Flower print for the lining.

I also made a bag for Abbey to use for dancing to carry her shoes and other bits and peices for dancing classes. I made the body of the bag big enough to fit everything she needs in it and shortened the strap to suit her. I love this bag and so does Abbey.

New Bags..

Well I have survived the first week back to school and the early mornings and I am enjoying the extra time it is giving me to get some sewing done. Once Lexie starts full time I will be able to dedicate a day or two just to sewing...WOOT!

As for my bag making I have been having issues with the plastic sheeting and my machine grrr....so I have started making my Funky Eco bags minus the plastic sheeting. I actually think I prefer them like this. I use a stiff interfacing to give the bag body and shape and I am more than happy with the overall look of them.

I also made up some market style cross body bags that I am in love with. I made some up using calico and scrap fabric which I altered a few times until I was happy with the size, shape etc. Once happy with my creation I made some more in different fabrics and added a clasp and some fancy stitching to the strap for detail. These bags are so comfy and great for those times you need both hands free to do other things.

First Funky Market bags, made with calico.

These Funky Market bags have been made with contrasting fabrics and I have added a clasp. I have already sold the black and white one (o:

It's been a while and after a small hiatus over the school holidays I am back and ready to get into my sewing again and start filling those orders people have been so patiently waiting for.

We have had an awesome summer with many days spent at the beach or down the river the girls have had a hoot soaking up the surf, sand and rays.

To get me back into the sewing mood I took myself off to Spotlight the other day to browse and get some inspiration. I ended up buying a heap of new fabricd which I will use to make more Funky Enviro Bags with and also a few other ideas I have, stay tuned.....

It was a stinker here in Perth today so the girls and I decided to spend the majority of the days inside with the aircon cranking...Bliss!

I took this oppurtunity to break out the machine and whip up a bag from some vintage Sesame street fabric I had that were once curtains. I decided not to plastic coat this bag and used a stiff interfacing on the back of the fabric to give it some body. Iam pretty happy with the way this bag turned out and I am very tempted to keep it for myself.
